DAIRY PRODUCE, &c.
BUTTER.— Conditions tire little changed, the
market, if anything, being n shade quieter on
advice of lower prices in (he London market.
Cable 1 (-ports indicate that lower prices for
Danish butter have ben followed by u sharp
decline in general market quotations. In Mel
bourne umplo supplies are available, and all
demands arc satisfied. Both South and West
AtMmlintt trader purcharc moderate supplies,
but exporters have reduced their requirements.
Output is well maintained, existing conditions
nefng favorable to steady production. Choicest
quality i quoted at 140/ per cwt.; first grade at
183/4. Other grades at the usual concessions.
MILK.— Ample quantities arc marketed in Mel
bourne, and though buying is of a steady nature
-equlrenu-nts are readily met. DemnndK remain
good, both retailers and ice cream manufacturers
taking fair quantities. Raw milk is quoted at Od.
per gallon on rails and 9%d. road delivery.
For pasteurised nnd treated milk the quotation
is 9%d. by rail and 10%d. by road.
CHEESE. — New cheese has quiet support, nnd
only mull quantities ate selling. Most re
tailer. hold fair slocks, and immediate needs
tro smell. The call for matured chccsc is dull.
Y«'5t«rday now medium was quoted at 8d. per
ib., and S%d. for loaf. For semi-matured lud.,
to lid, was nsktd, and Tor matured up to 1/.
EGGS.— Some merchants report good business
in quality eggs, but in other quarters surplus
stocks arc held Generally larger supplies are!
<olling. but offerings nrc mote than sufficient
to meet buyers' current, needs. Friers nr«» main
tained. Yesterday graded and repacked eggs
were quoted at 1/ to 1/1 per dozen, though occ.i-
doiullv higher was asked. The price for select
eggs was lid., for private descriptions Oil. to
Pkl. was quoted, and £U. for ordinary descrip
tions.
BACON.— Buyers operate steadily for the period
of the year, and hales are of n moderate nature.
All eu(t have attention at late rate. Yestcdlay
middles were quoted at 1/ 1 per lb., prime light
-ides at lUd. to 30%d.t heavy Bides nt 9%d.,
flitches at 0%d., and shoulders at 6d. Quota
tion?, for cuts \\8th shoulder blades In were
%d. per lb. ' cheaper.
HAMS.— For prime loose hams 3/2 per lb. ft
shed, and 3/3 is the quotation for bagged,
heavy weight am Id. per lb. cheaper. Offer
ings arc small, and though, demands are not

LARD.— This commodity telh quietly. Large
supplies arc available, and though sotne mer-
'bants nrc prepared to accept concessions rales
are una 11. Buckets are on offer at 71. a lb.
The quotation fur bulk is GU., and In some cases
G%-d. a lb.
HONEY.— Prime ideas extruded is quoted ot
l%d. to 6d., and occasionally 6%d. per lb., and
other descriptions ure available ut 3%d. t»> 4d.
per lb. Offerings of choice honey are more plen
tiful. but thric 1 a good outlet for supplies,
'food honey In fair support, and moderate trade
in other grade is reported nt late prices.
BEESWAX.— Demand lacks animation, and
with fair supplies on hand requirements are
supplied at late rates. For prime clear wax 3/
to VI per lb. waft yesterday's quotation.
POULTRY.—' There will he no talc during
