in London
LONDON. Jan. 22 (A.A.P.).
In the most severe1 criticism
yet,> a .jisually outspoken ^Lon
don; critic" calls Chester Wil-
iriotVnew book, "Struggle -For
Europe," . "-partisan and un-
fair." ' ,
, The "Evening Standard"
critic, "Milton' Sohulmiin, writes
today that some' parts of the
book ' "will etribarrass Mr.
Churchill.'.' ,
' Under, the- banner heading
"Roosevelt the', .Blunderer ?"
the jcr.ltlo says the book can al
most be ' reduced to terms of
old-fashioned' , melodrama: —
"The innocent, naive,- "trusting
Roosevelt is seduced by the
cunning, -. wily,, malevolent Sta
lin." ; " - . -
He' adds later:— "The time
is well past'1 for -a. continuation
of ; partisan, ;:-lopsl(ied chau
vinistic discussions of who was
right and who was not right."
' The .'critic- also -, claims that
"neither Mr. Churchill nor
Anglo-American relations are
usefully served" by Wilmot's
book.
The critic adds that -when
the book- is published in
America in March or April
"Wilmot's' full-blooded thrusts"
against American policy in the
European- war will produce a
violent reaction.
