The value of provident funds to plnycrs .
becomes more manifest each season. Mel
bourne In the last few seasons decided to
bring Into operation a special scheme,
and as a result more than it 150 has been
paid out to plnycrs who have retired this
season or who have transferred to other
clubs. Figures made available yesterday
show thnt B. Usher secured £31. Conole
£33, Johnson £34, Avery £32 and
TymiltS £34.
This year at Melbourne the plnycrs are
being paid £3 a mutch. From that
amount 5/ is being deducted each week,
and to thnt 5/ the club. Is adding another
5/. nnd the 10/ goes into the provident
land each week for each player, to be
held till he retires.
South Melbourne club committee has
struck on a new Idea to boast up the
provident fund payments for players. The
committee has hired the Klncma Theatre,
Albert Park, for 38th May, nnd the whole
of the proceeds are to be placed In the
fund for the players.
