FOOTBALL UNITY
Conference With
the League

As the way had been opened by the
Victorian Football Association for a
conference between the Association
and the Victorian Football League to
discuss football unity, the ' next move
was now up to the League, leading
officials of the V.F.A. said last night.
They confirmed the opinions ex
pressed at the V.F.A. meeting on Mon
day that unity between the two or
ganisations would benefit Australian
rules football, but the high-handed
tmd dictatorial attitude which the
League had shown towards Associa
tion activities was not at all conducive
to the promotion of friendly feelings.
There was no question of any V.F.A.
clubs deserting to the V.F.L.
Finals on M.C.G.
Ground leases and rights of the
V.F.A. to play matches, on them will
be discussed at a conference of mayors

Cricket Association board room next
Monday afternoon. The deputation
of protest from the conference will
wait on the Melbourne cricket ground
trustees as soon as possible.
Oaklelgh council at Its meeting this week was
urged by n deputation from Onklcigh club to
support a deputation from the- V.F.A. to the
trustees of Melbourne cricket ground, seeking
permission to use the ground on Show day and
tor the finals and grand Anal matches.

Rue) and Cr. Howroyd to roprcscnt It on the
