Jvanlioe Grammar School.
PROPOSED NEW MAIN SCHOOL
Since the opening of the Ivanhoo gram
mar school in 1915 .by Rev. 8. Buck-
ley, 51. A., the number of hoys attending!
that valuable educational institution has
j increased to 200. Numerous additions andj
alterations have been carried out at nnu-h'
cost, more commodious class rooms havcj
been built, and a fine spoils pavilion has'
been completed, bringing the capital:
value of the property up to 2042,000. j
Tho standard of scholarship has steadily'
risen, and in spoils contests the school:
ntiw holds n sound position among the its/
socintcd grammar schools. j
With a net annual iuefenso of at least'
50 scholars, it has been decided to build a:
new main school. Messrs. Hudson and!
Wnrdrop, (he winners of the competition;
for the design for the State war memorial,;
who arc the architects for the school, have
designed a very handsome building, which
is to stand on a lofty position in beauti
ful surroundings, and will be lioth a land
mark and a memorial. The building, with
the provision of two more playing fields
and the laying out of the grounds it will
overlook, will cost £25,000. The council
of the school has therefore authorised
tho launching of an appeal for tho re
quired amount.
