4 NEW SOUTH WALES.
A.<I.C. MEETING.
PLATE WON BY DAVID.
AUSTRALIAN SUN WINS.
SYDNEY. — Had it not been raining
heavily on Saturday the AJ.G. Autumn
meeting -would haVo been brought to a
conclnsion with a record attendance. As
it was, only 30,000 persona were prcuent
' on tbe last day. The course was free from
water, and the ovents wero put through
without accident, except for a harmless
foil in tbe Second Steeplechase. Specula
tion was brisk. The tolalisator was fairly
patronised, and £40,072 15/ was put
through. After scvural defeats of the
various members of his siring daring the
firat three days of the meeting, 0. T.
Godby supplied the winner of the Dangnr
Handicap with the imported horse Aus-.
tralian Sun. From 14 to 1 his price gradu
ally shortened until 7 to 1 was the brat
offer. The withdrawal of Kurytbmic
made, the A.J.C. Plate a much more in
teresting race. David was favorite, but
Salitros and Kennaquhair ran .him close.
'Tbe son of Bavcrstock and linotype was
ridden a patient, race by J. Tuobey. Fox-
glide, of whotd nothing was known, and
Salitros made all the running, but when
David, put in his run in Uic straight tbe
opposition crumpled up, nud the colt bent
Salitros by four - lengths. Kennaquhair
was very tired at the finish, and was,
twenty, lengths away. Foxglidc was a
poor last. Tbe time, 5 min. 52i eec was 1
only to be expected when the etalo of the
track was taken into consideration. The.
conditions of the event 'provide that if
the race takes longer than 6 min. 45 sec.
toe prize shall be reduced from £2000 to
'.£750, bat tho committee baring taken the
-state of the course into consideration may
vary the eonditiona MulgawHluh, who
used to race on the pony trades, won the.
Second Steeplechase, and thus annexed
both the jumping events owir the big
sticks. Old Comprouriso, who won the
race last year, was second. ' Westendale
came down, and bis rider, G. Davis, sus
