evening up of the sides, nnd villi two sets
ot games completed, ten ot tho twelve
cightccns have been vanquished. Rich
mond, who annihilated North Melbourne
wilh a parliculdrly tall score on .Snturdn.v,
arc at the . head of the premiership list
with a very 'fat percentage, and Curltoq
arc m second place, also undefeated, llicy
.ire fortunate to bo there nt the moment,
however, as thoy hod the utmost difhcully
. in breaking owny from tbe iiiuch-nnproved
Hawthorn side- on Snturdn.v.
The surprise of tt second set of matches
was the gront victory scored by Fitzroy
at Coliingwood, und it seems that the
maroons arc about to come right buck into
their own game. They are now third on
the. Premiership list. Geelong at home
touud' Melbourne very worthy opponents,
£sscndon -had to fight every inch of the
> way to down St. Kildu ut Kssendon, and
' ut' South Melbourne tho homo men were
sorely; troubled by Footscray, who twice
led by 5.2, nnd then fell away before the
super football played in purple 'patches by
tha Southerners. There is a long way to
travel yet, and the season promises lo
bring forth many surprising results.
