niile 'it' was. deemed unnecessary to make

that, there' will be- at least two or three

that' ifCai'divisipn is' ordered the nomina-
toreV of 6tar.ters will- be required to con
tribute an 'additional £1 to a sweepstakes.

Final, acceptances . for the Grand Na
tional- Hurdle ' Race are to he. declared
on Thursday, and when those interested
met yesterday to talk over prospects it
was palpable that until then there is not
, likely -tp.-'he: any striking developments,
Estimators of chances cannot be accused
of encouraging .questioners. In both the
hurdle; evpnt and .in the Grand National
Steeplechase . they are standing four
square to all- attacks, with the result that
they are easily repulsing those who would
disconcert them if they could. Baan.va's
impressive performance at Moonee Valley
has brought him sufficient support to put.
. Him .just slightly, ahead of Lynden on the
Hurdle Bare popularity poll, while Belar,
Whose 'claim was overlooked while those,
of Bpariya' and Pitoota -were being' so
strongly : canvassed after; -Saturday. re-
Mains -firm: in third place. Walter Scot
has. been slowly but steadily losing, ground
on the hurdle race poll, and gaining
ground 'in a' corresponding degree on' the
1 steeplechase., poll, on which Rcdditch re
mains the "spear-point,,. The poll was
declared as follows: —

Usually it is difficult to select a rising
three-year-old in a Catilfield Cup connec
tion, "as colts of that age having any pre
tentions to class are usually permitted
to pass that event by to be reserved
instead lor the A ..J .U. and Victoria
Derbies. It is interesting lo know, there
fore, that the connections of L'Elite,
winner of the V.R.C. Sires' Produce
Stakes and other good juvenile races,
contemplate passing the Sydney trip over,
nnd, all going, well in tbo meantime, con
centrating on the Caullicld Cup, in which
race the Gay Lothario colt has been
awarded 7 st. 6 lb.
Owners of: horses not scratched for the
