SIR, —Ignorance is unpardonable when in
formation may be obtainable for the mere
asking. Had “Ratepayer” made enquiries,
be would have learned that moonlight conces-
siona were granted tha Electric Company for
several nights before and after full moon He,
however, pays an unintentional compliment to
tha small band of citizens who haie pluckily
put money into a venture for tha better light
ing and advancement of Ballarat, by showing
how quickly he misses tha fine light—even if
out for an hour.
Considerable interest (writes our correspon
dent) is being evinced in the visit of Mr Max
iiirsch to Sebastopol, where on Friday night
he will lecture at the Town Hall on “The
solidarity of labor.” The lecturer’s name has
preceded him, and there will no doubt be a
large gathering. Mayor Strickland has cm
