THE STRIKE IN FRANCE.
ACTION AGAINST LABOR CON
FEDERATION.

The Council of Ministers to-day ordered
the dissolution of the Confederation of La
bor as inimical to national defence. This is
regarded as the most drastic measure since
the mobilisation of railway employes.
Cabinet subsequently decided to discon
tinue its action against the Confederation
of Labor. M. Millcrand stated, however,
that he proposed to prosecute the officials
of tho confederation. He found it was not
a' group of trade unions, btft an illegal
body aiming at tho overthrow of estab
lished Government.
The general strike HhowB signs of spread
ing. Strikes hre occurring in a number of
trades, including tlie electricity workers
una the builders. Tho position at Mar-
smiles is serious.
