TERMS.
REPLIES TO CHALLENGERS.
SYDNEY. September si.
Concerning the challenge by E. Barry for
a match to be rowed on the Thames. Dick
Arnst said to-day that as the challenge
stood at present he was not going to ivastt
money in replying. The conditions under
which be was originally to row were known
rhey were that he was to get £750 and expenses.
He had learned since that either
Bariy or some friends of Barry had said
that if lie (Arnst) was particularly anxious
to row he would have to be satisfied with
less than £750 and expenses."' You can
t?U Barry from me now," added Arnst,
that 1 have changed my mind, and that
my terms are £1,000 and expenses if he
wishes to go to the Thames course. Since
my raw with Pearce 1 have been engaged
in a fairly remunerative occupation, and^do
not leel disposed to throw it up and go to
England to please him. I am tbe champion,
and if Barry wants another race he
must come to the Parramatta."

to arrange a match with Arnst over a
