RAILWAY DISMISSALS.

WOODKND, Sunday.— At the monthly
meeting of Woodend sub-branch of the
' Australian Railways Union this afternoon
members were addressed by Mr. J. M.
Sheehnn, organiser of tlic union, jn ueat-
' ing ,;W(itii |tl)C, dismissals . of- supernumerary
employes from the service, Mr. Shcchari
said the, dismissals had been confined prin
cipally ' to the ways and works branch,
but it was also claimed" that should. the
revenue' continue to decline it might be
come necessary fo again introduce a -sys
tem of .rationing to prevent further dis
missals. . He said they had the spectacle
of the'Govcjiunent nnd Commissioners ex
ploiting j th? 'economic conditions of the
unctn'plo'yed' to break down arbitration
