ADULTERATED CREAM.
TO THE EDITOR OK THE AGE.
Sir,— I see by your report of a case
about adulterated cream that an analyst
said that rennet added to ereain made it
thick just as though gelatine had been
added. Adulteration with rennet is what
I wrote to you about some weeks ago, but
the business is still going on. Can nothing
be done to stop this wicked artificial
thickening with rennet 7 All oi-cr the
working class suburbs this thickened
cream is being sold, qnd is soriictimcs
called "clotted" . cream. Everyono who
buys it thinks it is real thick cream, and
it is done to mislead housewives. As I
said, when I was a girl in the old country
the authorities soon put a stop to it
Surely our health powers aro clover
enough to stop the business. Perhaps one
of our members of Parliament will do
something. IIow can people who sell pure
cream comneto against tliis stuff ?—
Yours, &c..
