PERCY WALKER REUNION.
Old Girls' and Boys' Association.
Queen Victoria Hospital to
Benefit.
Of a unique and interesting character,
an enjoyable gathering took place at St.
John's Hall, Latrobe-street, Melbourne,
last night, when about 200 old girls and
boys of the Percy Walker school; in King-
street, West Melbourne, held their half-
yearly combined reunion. There was a
pleasant and excited buzz of conversa-
tion as greetings were exchanged, and old
friendships renewed. This association was
founded to perpetuate the memory of the
late head master of the school, Mr. Percy
Walker, who died 45 yeats ago. A condi
tion of membership is that every member
must have been a pupil at the school in
Mr. Walker's time, and the association is
unique, in that, as its members pass out
they are not succeeded.
The president of the old girls (Mrs. J.
Matthewson), who presided, was pre
sented with a bouquet of carnations and
mignonette by the old girls, on whose be
half she extended a welcome to all mem
bers and visitors. During the past two
years the association had subscribed over
£80 towards the maintenance of the Janet
Walker cot at the Queen Victoria Hos
pital, in memory of their beloved head
mistress. Her remarks were endorsed by
Mr. K. Lyall, president of the old boys.
The roll call was an interesting feature
of the evening. A pleasing musical and
elocutionary programme was given by
Miss Connie Phillips, Miss J. Collie and
Messrs. R. McLeod, C. McKenzie and
Quinlan, followed by community singing.
Congratulations to the association on its
successful efforts on behalf of the Queen
Victoria Hospital were given by the presi
dent of the auxiliary (Mrs. W. M.
Robins), who said that the disposal of a
crochet lace supper cloth made by Miss
N. Cambridge, one of the old girls, had
resulted in £100 for the hospital. (Ap
plause.) The winning number was drawn,
and was No. 500. held by Mrs. Ottawa,
box 67, Ultima, Victoria.
The committee of the old girls com
prises:— President. Mrs. ,T. Matthew-son;
vice-presidents, Miss Coulson and Mrs.
Worthing; hon. secretary, Mrs. M. Gar-
ner; hon. treasurer, Mrs. J. Tippett. The
old boys' committee consists of: — Presi-
dent, Mr. R. Lyall; vice-presidents,
