Xho legislative Council Bet an example
in' the direction of economy yesterday by-
agreeing that the salary of tho Cliainnan
of ' Committees of the House should bo
reduced from £400 to £'300 a rear. Tho

of the late Mr. A. 0. Fachso. Prior to
the meeting of the Council yesterday mem
bers met in private and agreed tint the

Minister of .Public Works announced this
decision to the House, and oaid he would
brtng.il;. under the notice of . the Ministry.

that the decision rested with the Goverri-
