DEPUTATION, ?
THE DARK RIVER REEFS.
A deputation of miners and others interested
in the Dark River reefs waited on tho Minister
of Alines yesterday with reference to certain
leasee in the locality. It appeared thnt owing
to tho nnn-oomplinflei with eettaih technical
conditions parties of junipers lind re-pegged
several leases, nnd the how fide holders were
afraid of losing their ground. By clauses in j
the act persons applying for a lease are ,
compelled to post notices on the claim tho
same day as it Bppearb in tho nearest local
pripfer, and also at tliiinearostPostOliice. Under
existing local circumstances neither of these
provisions can bo carried out, thongh in every
other respect tho bona fides of the applicants ate
beyond question. Mr. Levien states that if
on report from tho warden tho case was as tho
deputation Btated, they would be equitably
dealt with, as there was a special clause in the
act cnahiihg tho Minister to grant a leaso
even though all th'o clauses of the act were
not complied with.
