Reception In Melbourne.

Mr. Hughes and the members of his
party are expected to reach Melbourne by
the Adelaide express to-morrow about
10 axn. Members of tho Federal'
Government will bo present on tlie
station platform to meet him, and '
a special demonstration of welcome is being
arranged by the members of the Returned'
Soldiers' League, in conjunction with mem
bers of the Soldiers' Fathers' Association.

in procession to the Town HaU, where he

In connection with his visit to Bcndigo ,
on Monday, Air. Hughes will leave Mel
bourne by special train at 11250 a.m. Arriv-
ing at Castlemaine at 2.10 p.m., he wiU bo
accorded a brief reception at the station, .
where the train is to stop for eight
minutes, but the principal demonstration
of welcome to bo accorded to Mr. Hughes
by the residents of Castlemaine will not
take place until Tuesday afternoon, when
the Prime Minister is to be entertained by1
the mayor. Mr. Hughes will arrive at Bcn
digo at 2.55 p.m. on Monday, and will
leave on the return journey to Alelbourne
at noon on Tuesday.
Welcome by Soldier.
The Soldiers' League, in conjunction
with the Soldiers' Fathers' Association,
wiU take a prominent part in the welcome
to Melbourne of the Prime Minister. Those
returned men who wish to take part will
assemble at 8.45 a.m. Saturday at Alex-
anda Gardens, and march at 9 to Spincer-
, street station. , When Mr. Hughes arrives
tho "Diggers" will give him a rojjsing wel-
come. The league lius received a wire from'
the Prime Minister, in which he states
he will be glad to address the soldiers at
the conclusion of the Lord Alayor's rccep- -
tion. Returned soldiers in the employ of
the Commonwealth Government are to be
given Saturday mornmg off on full pay.
Leave for Soldiers.
Returned soldiers and members of the
military forces m the employ of tho Com
monwealth Government who wish to par
ticipate in the welcome to Die Primo Minis,
tcr to-morrow, aud who can be spared from
duty, are to be given leave of absence by,:
the authorities without deduction of pay. -
Mr. Hughes has accepted an invitation
to dine with members of the Australian'
