ARCHBISHOP .CLARKE AT ST.
PAUL'S.
Archbishop Clarke preaching in 6t Paul's
Cathedral last night, in referring to the
Peace celebrations of Saturday, said that
many people had declared that Christianity
bad failed, as it had not prevented the
war. The existence of the war had proved
ujwirjy yii tbu toiiu great principles OI v-mlstl-
anity did -not rule in men's hearts or in
national life. Although the church had
tried to do things and had failed, that was
no reason why it should not continue to
cany out the mission entrusted to it by the
Divine Master. It should bear in mind the
lesson of the necqssity for faith taught by
Christ to bis disciples. When ho told them
to let down their nets. Peter replied.
"Master, we -have toiled all night and
canght nothing. Nevertheless at Thy word
I will let down the not." Peter's faith was
<Inv rewarded. The church must persevere
with the good work it was called on to do.
