____of the Institution, Notice is hereby
given, that the first General and Quarterly,
Meeting for the current year, will be held, by
adjournment, and by permission, in the Court
of Requests' Room, on the second Monday,
the 13th July, at 2 o'clock, P. M.
__The most important subjects for consideration
___________________are —
__1st.--The clauses in the Licensed Victuallers'
and Quarter Sessions Acts, which require amend-
ment, and
__2nd. — The necessity of respectfully memo-
rializing the Local Government for the purpose
of promoting this object, through the medium
of the next meeting of the Legislative Council.
__Under other circumstances, the meeting now
advertised, would be for members of the Society
only ; but, as the Institution was founded not
only for their benefit, but to promote the general
interests of the Trade ; all Wholesale and Retail
Dealers, whether members or not, are invited
to attend.

AT a Preliminary Meeting, for the forma-
____tion of a Bank, held at No. 9, Mac-
quarie-street, on the 4th of July, 1840, present

__was resolved, that a Bank be established,
to be called the " COLONIAL BANK," and
that the following Prospectus be published in
the various newspapers, for general informa-
tion :--
_______________PROSPECTUS.
__Capital, £200,000,— in Shares of £20 each.
__This Bank is established, not less with a
view to benefit the Industrious Tradesmen of
the Colony, than the Settlers generally ; both
of which classes but too frequently find their
intelligence and enterprize counteracted, from
a want of adequate capital, which this Associa-
tion proposes to supply.
__In order that the Agricultural and Trading
Interests generally, may have an opportunity
of promoting an Institution, founded upon broad
principles of liberality, the Shares are issued at
£20 each, upon which a call of 10s. per Share
is made, to be paid to the ad interim Treasurer,
at the time of subscribing. That £1 addi-
tional per Share be paid on signing the Deed
of Settlement, which payments shall be the
qualification for voting at the General Meet-
ing, to be appointed for the election of Ma-
nager and Directors ; and which last £1 per
Share, shall be paid by 3 o'clock, on the day
previous to the said General Meeting.
__That a third call be made of £1 per Share,
within three months from the date of said
General Meeting, and that the Directors there
to be chosen, shall have power to call for such
other payments, not to exceed £2 per Share, at
such reasonable intervals, as may be necessary,
for the proper carrying on the business of the
Company.
__So soon as a .sufficient number of Shares is
subscribed, the Deed of Settlement will be pre-
pared, when a Special General Meeting of the
Proprietary will be called, to consider its pro-
visions, and to elect a Manager and Directors.
__That the following be the Scale of Voting :—
_______5 Shares ............... 1 Vote,
______15 Ditto ...................2 Votes,
______30 Ditto................... 3 Ditto.
And an additional Vote for every 10 Shares
above 30 ; but that no Shareholder, under any
circumstances, shall be entitled to more than
10 Votes.
__That 50 Shares qualify for a Directorship.
__Resolved,— That C. Driscoll, Esq. be ap-
pointed ad interim Treasurer, and that applica-
tions for Shares, be made to him, at the Tem-
porally Office of the Company, No. 58, Liver-
pool-street, opposite Mr. Macmichael's Auction
Mart.
__That this Meeting be adjourned until half-
past two o'clock on Saturday next, the 11th
instant, to be held at the temporary office of
the Company, when all interested are requested
to attend.

____School, comprises Reading, Writing,
Arithmetic, English Grammar, Composition,
Geography, History, Algebra, Mathematics,
the Latin and Greek Languages, Logic, and
Belles-letters. Among the studies of this
School the Holy Scriptures, hold that pre-
eminence which they deserve and demand ; and
the earnest desire of the conductor is, by
example, as well as by precept, to " train up "
(those entrusted to him) " in the way they
should go."
