MELBOURNE CATTLE MARKET.

Melbourne, wednesday.
Fat Cattle. — 1450 were yarded to-day,
all qualities being represented, including
an equal proportion of cowd. The market
opened to a large attendance, including a
number of buyers from Adelaide. Owing
to the inter-state competition, opening
sales were very active, prices showing an
advance of fully 10s. on last week's rates.
Prime bullocks, £12 10s. to £13 10s.;
extra prime and heavy weights, £14 to
£14 153.; "good, £10 10s. to £12; good
handy and light weights, £9 5s. to £10 ;
middling, £8 to £8 15s.; inferior, from
£7 Prime cows, £9 5s. to £9 15s. ; extra
prime, £10 to £LL 15s.; good, £7 5s. to
£8 5s. ; others, from £5.
The following are approximate averages
of principal lots Bethanga-park, 20,
£12 15s.; Lobban, Talgarno, 7, £14 10s.;
Buchanan, Tallangatta, 8, £12 -13s. Id.;
Pollard, Bonegilla, 18, £11 17s.; Tin-
taldra, 112, £15 6s.; Moore, Tooloonok,
30, £11 13s. 6i.; Griffiths, Kiewa, 8, £16
15s.; Richardson, dowgill, 19, £13 0s. 6d.-
Fat Calves. — 130 penned, which sold
readily at late rates. Prime steers and
heifers, £5 to £6 2j. 6d.; prime calves,"

vealers, 40s. to 50s. ; others, from 20s.
