Long before noon yesterday racegoers began
to assemble on the Richmond racecourse, where
the first of thirteen trotting races was limed
to start noon after midday. 'The attendance
assumed record proportions for an ordinary trot
ting fixture, Tiio weather was fine and season
able, and the long programme attracted 170 odd
competitors. The honors of best reinsman went
to IT. Tootnor, who drove Iw'o odds-on favorite

(Constellation) in the lliirnlry Handicap. Two
of the winners .were unsuccessfully protested
against. The feature of the meeting was the
remarkable success of popular fancies, eight first
