STUDENTS' CONCERT.
Tho Albert-street C'onsorvatorhim of
Driisic presented some, interesting work at
the Assembly Hall on Friday night, in the
presence of Lady, Soiners and Dame Nellie
Dfelbn. The general level of excellence
was uniformly high, though certain per-
ffirmers stood out as: showing more than
ordinary -promise:
The concert was remarkable for the
supply . of beautiful voices it brought
forth. Tho vocalists wore 'supremely for-,
tiinato in having tho invalunble advice . of
Dame Nellie Dfelba. Some of the singers
were not far advanced in their training;
others were well on the way to concert
proficiency. But all display purity of
vocal tone and case in production. Speci
al jy attractive were Irsis Brown in Lc
Nil of Loi-ijux, Greta Callow in "- Verdi's
Cnro Nome and Cora O'Fnrrrll in a song
of Richard Strauss. Other successful
vocalists were Ivy Holmes, Kathleen
D Tally, Jiis Turnbull, Phyllis Clark, Ida
Walker, Diary ilothnin, Lilian DlcDIalion,
Jean Briinton, Dlillieciit Osmond, Claire
Ward. Their work was splendidly summed
up li.v tlie ladies' choir in beautiful inter
pretations of a set of part songs by Gustav
Moist.
The pianists were entrusted with works
of importance by Beethoven, Chopin,
Mendelssohn, Cesar Kranck and Pick-
Mangingalli. The classic work was
cleverly performed by Irene Ultiiig;
Chopin, by Linda Parker and Elinor
Ckiplitim. Florin West gave a movement
from Dlcndelssohn's G minor concerto.
Viva Clark displayed musieianly qualities
in the difficult. Prelude, fugue nnd varia
tions of Kranck. The modern composer
wns dealt with by Myrtle Frazier. A
talented violinist. Diary Gaskin, gave a
very satisfactory performance of the first
inovemeiit of Dlendelssohn's concerto.
The nccompanuncuis were in tho safe
hands of Dliss Ida Scott.
