The cadet dinghy class had the first race over
a special inside course close to the Middle Brigh-
ton pier, and great interest was taken in this
junior class. Those who make the crews of
these little craft are young boys, and their
handling of their small charges was highly satis-
factorv. There was a close finish to a good
race. The boats are named after the famous old
sailing ships, and each has a distinguishing
device on its mainsail. The times were as

St. Kilda club had ita annual nice, for the
Chcel Cup.' Conditions were similar to those
prevailing at Brighton. Seven boats started, but
only four completed the course. Ranee retired
after having fouled Winsome when running free,
but tlie boats were not damaged. Winsome
made a good race throughout, and munuged to
score iter second win this-' season, ller- win . in
tills C11EO wus1 by the narrow margin of one
second Iroin Forluna. Rnnoo thus loses t.ne
Cnp to Winsome, who will hold it for one year.
