THE UNIVERSITY.
DEGREES CONFERRED.
One Blind Graduate.
Fifty-six degrees were conferred at the
University yesterday by the Chancellor
(Sir John Macfarland). Most of the
graduates had completed their law courses
at the recent examinations. There were
no medical degrees conferred at yester-
day's ceremony, which lacked the color
and display of academic dress, which
marks the commencement conferring in
April.
The second batch of commerce students
to complete the course since its introduc-
tion graduated yesterday.
Mr. W. G. Findlay, who graduated a
Bachelor of Music, is the first blind
graduate in music. He is a brilliant
pianist, who last year won an exhibition
tenable for three years, offered by 3LO
for pianoforte students.
The degree of Doctor of Science was
conferred on Dr. Neil Hamilton Fairley,
who is also a Doctor of Medicine. He is
