EVIDENCE IN TASMANIA CON
CLUDED.
FUTURE ARRANGEMENTS. j
LAUNCESTON, Friday. ,
The Postal Commisaou concluded its sit-
tings in Luunceston yesterday. Mr. J.
Hume Ooolt. when interviewed, expressed :
surprise with tho rumor that lie and Mr.
0. 0. Salmon intended sending in their re-
signations. lie said lie luul no doubt that i
certain gentlemen would like them to do so,
but tlie "wish was father to the thought.'
He said he luul no such intention himself,
and lie was unaware tlmt -Mr. Salmon pro
posed to take silcli a course; he did not
think it at all likely. Ho was nimble to
state what action would be taken in regard
to filling Mr. Mulcahey's vacancy on the
commission, but if he were consulted in
the matter lie would advise that no frclb
appointment should be made. The commis-
sioh was sufficiently large as it was, sad
there was really no need to fill the vacancy.
The. chairman further explained that 'the
commission had adjourned until 6th Janu
ary, when it would map out the future
cotirso of the commission, lie thought
that the next Stata to bo visited ivoidd be
Western Australia, after which a visit
Would probably be paid to South Aus
tralia.
