PARLIAMENTARY AMENITIES.
BERTH, Thursday.
When the Assembly met to-day Air.
IToran called attention to a remark' by
Air. Taylor at tlie close of tlie all night
sitting yesterday, that lie (Mr. llornn) had
drowned liis mental faculties in beer. Air.
Tavlor's m-imitive knowledge of nolitics
was on ii par with liis lack of gentlemanly
instincts. He moved that Mr. Taylor bo
called on to withdraw and apologise.
Mr. Taylor said iie did not know what
words lie used; but lie would not deny or
withdraw anything, because- it was at ii
time in Hie morning when lie had been for
hours defending a principle he had held
for yeal-s. It was in the lieat of debate.
Subsequently Air. Taylor withdrew the
remark, but did not apologise, and tlie
matter ended. Alessrs. Taylor and Horan
are both Labor members.
