RIFLE SHOOTING.
NOTES. BY CORDITE.
The first test competition for places in the Vic
torian team for the Federal Mutch, which takes
place in Tasmania in December, is to be held
at Willlamatown on Saturday, 24th inst. The
shooting will commence at 10 a.m., so that the
country competitors can return home the same
night, . if desired. Major Marshall, who has
charge of the arrangements, requests that no one

will necessitate an absence from Victoria of about
two weeks, and those chosen must leave for Tas
mania not later than 10th December. The test

the V.R.A. grand aggregate, and 10 others select-

win for Miss Cole, aftrr a tic with Miss Telford.
Tlie shoot off resulted as follows;— tMiss Cole, 515—
14: Miss Triford. 454 — 13.
At the Port Melbourne ranges on Saturday clubs
shot at the short ranges, and had variable weather
conditions. The South Melbourne t-luh shoot for
tho Dr. Johnston trophy resulted in another win
for J. Scarlcs, who topped the list with fil, 30
(handicap 4), AS, Captain Kelly finishing second
with 20, 20 (10), (15. The best of (be others
were R. Searls, 32, 20 (2), 53; Durrnnt, 81, 21) (2).

Tlie Boroondara club had a busy time with
competitions for the "Brown" and "Rooks nnd
Scott" trophies, the V.R.A.- medal and a spoon.
For the medal the best scores made were Came.
63; LUtlcjolin, 52, and Lowe, 51. Tn the Rooks
and Scott match, a. scratch contest, Littiejohn
was on top with 65; Lowe, 64; Carnc, 53, nnd
Schlapp, 53, being next in order. For the other
trophies the best results were:— Littiejohn, 27,
28 (16)— 70; Schlapp, 25. 28 <11)— 04: Lowe, 28,
20 (0)— (50; Carnc, 30, 23 (5)— 58, and Mulr, 28,
20 (7)— 65.
The South Yarra club completed the third
stage of the "II, Scott" trophy, the general re
sults, including handicaps, beings— A. J. Wells,
251; C. Dare, 248; Crozicr, 240, and Rinkin, 240.
The Government Printers' club fired for the
"Relph" trophy, 14 rounds at 200 yards. Hearn
gained first place with 70 (7), A. J. Relph, 70
(20) being second. The next in order were: —
E. Gladwin, 67 (13); Pendlebury, 67 (12), and J.
Jepson, 67 (17), Gladwin taking third place on
the count back.
The Richmond club shotv for the "Bennott"
trophy, the hrst scores coining out as follows: —
Bell, 57; Clarke, 55; Shopland, 52. and Allison,
52. On Cup day tho V.R.A. medal series was
completed, and the aggregate results show J.
B. Macdonald the winner, with 178, Chipper 176
being second and Bell and Allison next, with
174 each. The club entertained a squad from
II. M.S. Psyche at its miniature range on Cup
evening, nnd the visitors enjoyed some good prac
tice at the little turgcts, and also the hospitality
extended subsequently.
In the Port Melbourne club's spoon shoot on
Saturday at 200 and 300 yurds, the winner waa
T. A. Quaylc, with 30, 28 (6)-HJ4, second honors
falling to J- F. Stephens, with 31, 29 (3)— C3; II.
Waller, 26, 24 (13)— 63, and J. Tuckfield, 22, 22 I
(18)— 02, following closely
The M.C.C. R.C. competed, for a spoon and the
president's championship trophy, with a handi
cap limit of 63. The only3onc to reach this .was
Prcusott, whose score wo.4 r<i3 (12), second - and
third places were filled by Pearson 62 (14) and Na
than 62 (10).
