VICTORIA BEAT FITZROY AND
EA8T MELBOURNE.
There were the customary well-known faces on
tho bank ot S.M.C.C., including several V.B.A.
"observers," and praisable incidents received their
due meed of recognition. The Tartans were alto
gether too strong for the Eastern. Hill players,
and though the latter made a creditable Bhow-
ing early on, it became eventually a stern chase,
in which tho lead ot the forerunners was gradually
but surely lengthened, and in the last five heads
Victoria bad their opponents winded. The taker's
recording showed:— m

Adam Kemp, who lias not lost a game this
season, was again in inuinpiianc inooa, una ma
10 up Included a 7, a 0 and a ft, with sc\eral
minor helps. Tranter got 2 at the outset, but
remained on that mark for five heads. Before
ihe close he scored at twelve end', hut ho was
not getting them in lumps like Kemp.
Harry Windlcy's 22 tip' was (mother evidence of
quality. He luul a btroug rink behind him, and
took everj advuntage of that strength in build
ing up a substantial win. He started later than
Robbiu. who secured a couple of singles, but in
the course of his fifteen scoring ends he netted
two 5's, two 4'a, two 8's and so on. Robbie'a
13 was built up with difficulty from three 2's
and seven singles.
Armstrong and Hosking fought a good fight,
in which both picked up some large groups,
Hosking getting a 6, and Armstrong a 5 and two
i'd. The latter scored at twelve nnd the former
at thirteen heads. Hosking held the lead for
ten ends, when he showed 10 to 7. Ilerc Arm
strong got bis first 4. and led, two ends later
securing his ft. Hosking battled bravely, a nice
6 at the seventeenth placing him in front at
29—19. From this it was tense, but Arm
strong's second 4 set tlie seal on the record.
Wilkins, well supported and playing a fine
game himself, upheld tho credit of Victoria-
parudc, his 27 to 16 being highly praiseworthy.
In the fourteen heads at which he. scored he
hocked a 4 and a 8, some 2's, and several singles,
the 4 topping an excellent exhibition. Bob
Woods got in with difficulty, and though he in- 1
truded on eleven occasions, two 3'a were his best
results. Again they wero hard to get.
