SPRINGVALE SPORTING
BASEBALL.
A good attendance favored the an
nual meeting of the Dandenong
Baseball Association on Monday night
of last week, when Mr. H. Shepley
(president) occupied the chair. In
the secretary’s (S. Wagland) report,
it ’conveyed that no matches were
postponed owing to bad weather.
Umpires had rated the game of very
good standard. The 1.0. R., o.a,k
-leigh, came into the Association, and
for their first year they did very
well indeed. Oaks won the pre
miership for the second time Tay de
feating White Sox by 12 to 11.
Finance was good, and every club
did their sham, for the £5 debt was.
liquidated, and Mr..,.H. : Cox was
thanked for his patience. Club sec
retaries were commended for their
business acumen showed with re
turns, etc. Attendances at Associa
tion meetings were: H. Shepley S,
S. Turner 10, J. Apps 8, H. Cox 7,
J. Marsh 8, S. W.a gland 11, K.
Taylor 10, R. Dodge 10, L. Fry 8,
S. Osborne 9, and— .Sanderson 11.
Appreciation of the scorers of clubs
was expressed, and Mrs. S. R. Wag
land was praised for. her scoring .at
the Ballarat icarnival. The Executive
Committee, the Journal and Sun were
thanked for help accorded. The
financial statement showed receipts
at £26/18/1, and expenses, £24/5/,
thus a credit balance of £2/13/1. The
official appointments : will be com
pleted at the next meeting.
