AN ABORTIVE CONFERENCE.
A disput as to wages and conditions of
employment has arisen in the felt bat mak
ing industry in the States of yictoria, New
South Wales and South Australia, bteweca

of Australasia and various employers. A
conference was held yesterday at the Law
Courts between representatives of em
ployers and employes, at which Mr. Justice
Higgms presided. The representatives of

t.'e registrar announced that no agreement
was come to between the parties, and the
case would therefore have 'to go into the
court tor arbitration and award.
