GOOD WORKS.
That the Anglican Church might
do its necessary work for the Home
Mission Fund is at present being
urged, and since there are 80 parishes
in the Diocese, unable to fully support
their vicars, the home mission fund
supplements local stipends to the ex
tent of £4500 each year. Unfortunately
the clergy’s labors are accentuated by
distress and suffering, and thus the
calls upon their purse have grown
enormously. The Rev. Francis Morton,
of St. Janie’s, is now moving among
his parishioners with a desire of
learing how far they will aid . the ef
fort. The Home Mission Fund largely
supports nine hospital chaplains;
helps towards the purchase of church
sites; subsidises the provident fund
for aged and infirm clergy or their
widows; and accomplishes other
equally generous tasks; The work
thus performed calls forth an earnest
sympathy.
