WIRTH’S NEW CIRCUS
EXCEPTIONAL ENTERTAINMENT.
The 1930 season of Wirth’s Circus
will open in Dandenong on Saturday,
November 29, one night only. It will
long be remembered by all fortunate
.enough to enjoy it as providing the
most remarkable of its kind yet seen
in Australasia. Never before has the
big Show beenjso strong in trained
animals, including, as it does, a troupe
of performing Polar and Brown Bears,
that cost Wirth Bros. £5OOO to import.
Then there is a group of young Lions
they are making their first public
appearance. The ever-popular per
forming Elephants are in fine form,
while there are more trained Horses
in the ring than ever.
Of the human stars, perhaps the
most outstanding act is that of
Brody’s Troupe of Hungarian -Midgets,
five men and a woman, who measure
apparently no more than four feet in
height. The Midgets present an
amazing display of acrobatics, feats of
strength, dancing and musical items
into which much comedy is intro
duced. Claudia Alba, whose spec
tacular weight-lifting act in which she
lifts with her teeth from the ground
a pony and its attendant, weighing
900 lbs., substantiates her claim to
be the strongest woman in the world;
the Santey Duo, in a death-defying
thrill; the Lias Trope of Risley acro
bats; Arthuro and Continental Musi
cal Clowns; Mr. Phillip Wirth, Jnr.,
“Prince of Horse Trainers;” the won
derful Wirth Family; Alfred Clarke,
the champion rider and juggler on
horseback, are some of the prominent
acts on the programme, which consists
of 25 items.
The Menagerie, including 13 cages
of wild animals, Polar Bears, Brown
Bears, Black Panthers and others,
will be open from 4 to 5 p.m., when
the animals will be fed.
