SPRINGVALE A. v. GLEN IRIS.
The first day’s scores were Glen
Iris 118, and Springvale 4 for 24; and
on Saturday the ’Vale finished the in
nings with 79 runs (Bert Carter 47
not out—a fine exhibition—S. Wood
house 8, L. Holford 8, and four ducks.
Thirtyrtwo overs were bowled, and
wickets fell: 1 and 2 for 4,3 for 7, 4
for 8, 5 for 31, 6 for 40, -7 for 59, 8 and
9 for J 2. Seven players were bowled
and three caught. Glen Iris bowling:
Comport, 6 for 24; A Bear, 1 for 21;
11. Francis, 2 for 18; Brown, 1 for 3.
Glen Iris batted again for 69 (Hill
12, Musgrove 11, Brown 18, .James 6,
Bear 6). Twenty-three overs were
bowled and four players were caught,
four bowled, and one run out. Wickets
fell: 1 for 13, 2 for 18, 3 for 19, 4 for
31, 5 for 36, 6 for 43, 7 for 60, 8 for
62, and 9 for 69. Springvale bowling:

Springvale took the crease, and at

on the first innings.
’VALE C, V. CAULFIELD SOCCER.
Caulfield’s first innings totalled 46,
and Springvale (at stumps) were 3
for 68, and on Saturday last the score
was brought up to 155 (W. Pitcher 57
not out —a good innings—J. Pitcher
32, Thornhill 20, P. Reid 16; no balls
and byes, 13. Forty-one overs were
bowled, and wickets fell: 1 for 33, 2
for 41, 3 for 48, 4.for 97, 5 and 6 for
117, 7 for 123, 8 for 135, 9 for 146,
Seven players were bowled, one. each
caught, stumped and run put. Caul
field bowling: Woodland, 2 for- 20;.
Bur (ley, 1 ,for. 23; Masgu, 3 for 47;
Daisy, 2 for 13; Gage, 1 for 6.
Caulfield batted and finished up 7
for 58 (G. Gage 10, .Coombs 11, Bent
leigh 15). Wickets fell; 1 and 2 for
6,3 for 23, 4 for 29, 5 for 45, 6 and 7
for .58. Four players were caught,
one bowled and two run out. Twenty
five overs were bowled, and Spring
vale averages were: Reid, 4 for 12;
Pitcher, 1 for 11. -
. Springvale gained a good victory
by 109 runs on the first innings.
’VALE M.U. v. SALVATION ARMY.
This match was played at the school
ground, and the Salvation Army batted
first for 41 runs : S. -Wagland 16, J.
Birt 9, B. Newcombe 4, G. Johnson 3.
Twelve overs were bowled, and
wickets fell: 1 and 2 for 14, 3 and 4
for 25, 5 for 33, 6 for 35, 7 for 35, 8
for 39, and 9 for 41. M.U..bowling:
J. Norris, 3 for 10; Neilsen, 2 for 3;
Hunt, 2 for 6; Ayres, 1 for 0,
The M.U. score was 43; J. Norris
