ENGINEER’S REPORT.
Mr. R. PI. Woodcock, engineer, re
ported that during tne month of- May
metal was distributed from the quarry
as follow: City of Chelsea,.204 tons
1 cwt: .Shire of Dandenong, 1504 tons
6 cwt.; sold privately, 16 tons 19’ cwt
Total, 1,725 tons 6 cwt.
The cost of extending the present
poultry shed six feet on each side by
means of a cantilever would be £30.

, Athol street, Noble Park; I have
gone into the question of the drainage
of Athol and Wall streets. Noble Park,
and would Suggest the making of
Athol street to the south side of Wall
street, and the drainage of Wall street
.by means of a concrete channel on the
North side only.—The Engineer has
prepared plans and estimated costs,
and notice is to be served on owners.
Tree Planting: The Engineer fur
ther suggested the planting of a row
of trees on the North side of Douglas
street, at a cost of about £6 for labor.
The guards can be obtained from
streets in the town where the trees
have grown sufficiently strong to sup
port themselves. —It was agreed that
the suggestion made receive atten
tion.

Cr, Butler moved that the follow
ing accounts be passed for payment:

MARKET INSPECTOR’S REPORT.
Market Inspector H. Phillips re
ported having collected the follow'ng
monies for the month of May: Stall
holders (weekly), £128/3/; (quar
terly), £32/10/; agent’s dues, £178/
5/7. Total, £338/18/7;
'MEAT INSPECTOR’S REPORT.
The Meat Inspector, Mr. A. Toyne,
reported: Cattle, 330; sheep, 1,627;
pigs, 3,204; calves, 259, had been
slaughtered.
HEALTH INSPECTOR’S REPORT.
George Clark, Health Inspector, re
ported having received the attached
petition, signed by eight ratepayers,
.•equesting that the garbage cart re
move their garbage,. Prom a health
point of view I would recommend that
the service be granted.—Referred to
Centre riding.
I have also received the attached
complaint in reference to the bad
state of drainage in front of grocer’s
shop in Hammond road. I have in
spected this channel and find it is in
a very bad state. I reported on this
matter at the Council meeting on
March 31st last. —Referred to Centre
riding.
On June 25 I made a raid on wander
ng stock at Springvala, and seized
17 head of cattle and horses, and
placed them in the place of safe
custody. Forty-three head were re
leased, and the remaining four have
been brought to the local pound. Sum
monses have been issued against of
'lenders to appear at the Court on
July 7. —Received and adopted.
NOTICE OP MOTION.
Cr. Brodle asked leave to alter a
motion, standing in his name, affected
by- the Sewerage District Act 1915,
and to amend same to read: That the
Council’s consideration of matters af
fecting the proposed sewerage scheme
’or Dandenong be postponed for two
years. The motion was seconded 1 by
Cr. Butler, and was carried with
unanimity.

Crs. Isaac —Gartside: That a con
ference be, held on Wednesday 1 -, 9th
July, at’2 p.m., between the South
riding Crs,, the Shire Engineer, the
Shire Inspector, and Mr. Hawley, to
be. held at Noble Park, regarding
rouses that have been condemned, and
:hat the Noble Park Improvement As
sociation be invited to send represen
tatives .
Crs. Isaac—Gartside: That three ad-

Noble Park at points agreed between
Riding Crs. and Noble Park Improve
aient Association.
'Crs. Issac —Gartside: Re Unemploy
ment relief. That £5 be spent from
the fund on lower end of Douglas
street, Noble Park, and that a re
luest be furnished for a similar
amount from the Government.
