PAKENHAM.
The football match on Saturday
last between Longwarry and Paken
ham resulted in a win for Longwarry.
A meeting of egg producers held in
the Mechanics’ Hall on Monday even
ing elected Mr. Harvey president and
Mr. S. Thewlis secretary of the
newly formed “egg circle” for the en
suing 12 months. If, this organisation
is to be a success it will be necessary
for all egg producers to co-operate'.
We regret to state that Mr. Hyde
is at present an inmate of the dis
trict hospital, having undergone an
operation for appendicitis. He is
doing as well as can be expected.
In the local Court, before Messrs.
McAfee and Ahern, J’s.-P., several
persons were charged by Constable
Armstrong for failing to have lights
on their cars, and in each case a fine
was inflicted. These justices intend to
stop this offence.
At a meeting of the directors of the
Cool Store on Wednesday evening,
19th inst., Mr. George Priest was
elected to the Board in place of Mr.
Reid, who has left the district and
resigned.
The Pakenham Hospital is again
filled to its utmost capacity, and it is
the intention of the committee to
appoint a probationer nurse to the
staff.
Peter Ronald met with a nasty ac
cident last week end, when he fell out
of a motor car. - Fortunately the ac
cident occurred near his home, and
he was quickly removed to the Paken
ham Hospital, where he is recovering.
