The M. A Mail reports that on Thurs«
day an old man named Charlc9 Moore, n
miner, working by? himself in Blacksmith's
Gully, Fryer's Creek, had a narrow e3capo
of hia life. He was working iu some shftl
low ground, when suddenly and without any
warning tho wholo face, about S feet deep,
fell over and nearly smothered bim. In this
position ho lay for about two hours till as
sistance arrived. On examination it wao
found that thoro woro no bones broken, but
extensive injuries on the hips.
From tho Daylcsford Mercury wo learn
that a fatal accident occurred on Thursday
in a tunnel claim at Stony Creek Falla,
owned by two Italians, named Antonio
Leppo pnd Filipo About tlio middle of tho
afternoon tho latter pushed a truck load of
earth out of tho tunnel, leaving liis mate at
work. On Filipo's return, some iivo
minutes later, ho found Leppo lying dead
under a Blab of basalt that had fallen on
him. Tho block of stone waa a foot thick,
