GIRLS' SPORTS ASSOCIATION.
At a meeting which has just been held of the
heads of the three public schools for girls, viz.,
the Presbyterian Ladies College, the Methodist
Ladies' College and the Church of England Girls'
Grammar School, it was resolved to form a sports
association of the three schools. It was found, on
comparing notes, that tennis was meantime the
only game common to all three. In addition, two
play cricket, two rounders, otic hockey and one
croquet. The association will meantime be con
fined to tennis, but it is hoped that other sports
will bo added; and the individual schools will
meantime continue to play any game common to
two of them as at present. It was further resolved
that a trophv, in the shape of a shield, should be
procured, to be held by the winning school for a
year or until beaten. The hope was expressed,
that some prominent citizen would present the
three schools with a suitable shield, which might
nc associated with the donor's name; or, failing
this, that a subscription list should bo opened.
