BURGLARIES AT NORTH FITZROY.
Yesterday mofniug two burglaries of a vefy
oxtensivo character were reported to the police
as having occurred oil Saturday, between 10 and
11, tlio owners of tlio houses being absent iu
each case. The first was committed at the
residence of AVm. Hopkins, mining manager, oi
19 Forgio-street, and the stolen property, which
is valued at £80, comprises one lady's gold watch,
one gent.'s silver English lever, one gold brooch
anil pair of earrings, vine leaf pattern witli rubies,
ono gold ling, olio hair guard with gold locket,
attached anil silvot mounted pipe. Tlie robbers
effected their entry through the window of the
bedroom in which tho jewellery was deposited
in a bureau, the sash being lifted by forcing back
the catch with a knife. The name of the other
victim of these robberies, which are evidently
planned and executed hy an experienced burgling
gang, is Stephen Mail-, hy occupation a composj-
tor, and residing nt 11 Newry-street. Muir
suffered to tho extent of a silver watch nnd an
old fashioned long and very weighty gold neck
chain. Tlie value of the stolon property in this
case is not given.
