AUSTRALIAN NOTES.
TEN SHILLING NOTE UNPOPULAR.
Undoubted evidence of the unpopularity
of the new 10/ note is afforded by an offi
cial return of the numiber and, value of
the Australian notes issued and not re
deemed up to 24th September. A month
previously there t were 35.4S7 of the 10/
notes in circulation, 'a very small number'
considering that some months have elapsed
since the.v were first made available, and
last week it had dwindled down to 33,900.
The number of all denominations has in
creased during the month by 91,899, of the
value of £136,455, making the total now in
circulation 3,923,918, valued at £9,383,635.
