Jifialtii oif Tuesday, made a visit of inspec.
tion to Leggo and Co.'e metallurgical
works at California Oully, in connection
with the registration of which some trouble

and the various parties explained the posi-

conference; with the mayor (Cr. J. II. Web-

and Co. s wonks was discussed at some
Jnngth, and the chairmnji of tho 'board (Dr.
Hum) recommended that the council should
register the works. On returning to the
city the visitors bad luncheon with the
mayor (Or. Ros) at the Hotel Shamrock.
In tne afternoon' they inspected the new
municipal abattoirs, 'which are now an-
proaeliing completion, and subsequently
made an inspection of the site of the pro
posed sanatorium for consumptives, at
Spring Gully. The board left for Mel-
boinne by the evening train.
Colonel Stanley, the State Commandant,
made an official inspection of the local
militin .on Tuesday night. There' was a
good attendance, under the command or
Lieutenant-Colonel Davis, O.C. Subse-
quentlj- the commandant made an inspec
tion of : tlie endets in the Bendigo and
Eaglehawk areas.
