' IMPORT MARKETS.
Bagging. — There was a better demand
yesterday for cornsneks, and relatively
large sales were made at up to 5/6 for sea
son s delivery. ' Bran hags are quoted at
4/1%, and woolpacks at 2/5 to 2/5%.
Tea— Not much attention . was given to
this, department yesterday, and business
therein will be more or less interrupted
throughout the week. Sales include 200
packages Ceylon, chiefly of the finer grades,
at lip .to 13d. Under date of 17th August,
the Eastern Export Co. of Colombo report
that heavy rain had fallen in many dis
tricts, but a number of places still record
dry conditions. They anticipate that sup
plies will begin to increase in two or three
weeks' time. -Shipments to Australasia to
date:, were 15,300,000 lb„ against 16,781,289
lb. for- the .same period last year.
Fish.— Canned Balmon is in good demand.
, Royal. Red, 1 lb. and % lb. flat, and Pion
eer brands have liad forward business, and
on spot there have been, transactions in-
Peqcock 1 lb; fiat.
Chemicals. — Muspratt's caustic soda and
muriate, ammonia had attention,, vesterday
on spot. There were sales of Crook a trad
Ftencli cream tartar, to arrive.
Sundries.— Wire netting, 36 x 1% x .17
gauge, and American G resin had move
ment on spot yesterday-. A further ad
vance in London -of 20/ per ton for Novem
ber-December shipment is notified in Chum-
pion's white lead.
