An alleged asnult and roVbery in broad day
light In Canteibury has been reported to the
local police. The story was to'd by a young
man, Owen Hughca, In Hie employ of G. Glan-
5 rid, butcher, of Ctarterbury. His statement is
that on Saturday he went out with his oart de
livering order, and collected various small sums
6rom different customers'. He got back to the
shop in OantertMirv-road shortly after noon, and

the yard gate to returu to tlhe shop he was sud
denly knocked down by a violent blow on tho

Hughes ran to the shop and reported the occur
rence, staring that the attack was so sudden that
he saw no one strike the blow. On a search be
