MURRAY VALLEY VINEYARDS.
GREATLY DAMAGED BY WET

The grape crop at Corovva, which plays a
big part in the wine-output of New South
Wales, has -been seriously (laihagc-d_ 'by the
continuous rains which have fallen since
the new year. Many varieties of grapes
have become literally i-otton. Mr. J. J.
M William states .that upwards of 2000
euses of Black -Prince variety have been
rendered unlit far either market or wine.
In addition, his Godey Tokay and Muscatel
have also suffered. -The only varieties so
far escaping are Shiraz.and Doi-adilia. At
Wnhgunyali Mr. J. Grimmond, who has a
very line vineyard situated on the banks of
the .Murray, has also had a big portion of
bis crop damaged, all thin skinned varie
ties, such as Lisbon and Sweet Water, be
ing practically unfit' to pick. At South
Coroiva, where several small growers culti
vate table varieties, a similar condition is
reported. At -Mr, K. J. Buggy's vineyard
a deal' of damage has been done. At times
during the heavy rain 'storms portions of
his vineyard have been under water. Apart
from the wholesale destruction, the grapes
arq losing rapidly in, .their sugar contents; a
drop of. 4 degrees : taking place in one
week. _
