THE LARA ESTATE.
Speaking on Thursday of a visit to the Lnra Closer
Settlement Fstate, the Director of Agriculture,
Dr. Cherry, stated that the whole of the estate,
consisting of 42 blocks, was under occupation. The
area under wheat, oats and barley would bo very
much greater tills year than at any previous time.
since the district was settled. Owing to the some
what limited rainfall the methods of cultivation
adopted were very similar to those employed in
the Wimmci'n; uud the easily worked, friable soil,
together with the high percentage of lime which
it contained, rendered the prospects of the settlers
particularly bright.
