SWIMMING.
TlIB REAURBPAIRE FUND.
Mattera ill connection wIMi the fund inautu-
rated to send Frank Bcuurcpaire, Australia's
champion swimmer, to compete in the English
and Continental championships have now been
completed, and a meeting of the citliens com
mittee was held at the Amateur Sports Club on
Thuraday, 21st inst; the Lord Mayor (Cr. Buret on)
in the chair.
Thu lion, secretory (Mr. A. J. C. Bult) suh-
nutted his report and statement of receipts and
expenditure, duly certified and audited, which
were adopted by the meeting.
The total receipts to the 30th June were £376
2/9, made up as follows:— Collection oairis, .£308
6/9; direct donations, Ac., £137 11/; and pro
ceeds of South Melbourno concert, £35 5/. The
expenditure on printing, postage; advertising,
cables, Ac., vwis £27 12/0, le»iving a balance of
£348 10/3 as the net proceeds. A sum of £300
was voted by the committee prior to the de
parture of Boanrepairc, and it waa unanimously
decided to cahlc a further amount of £45 to
his manager (R. M. Collins). E. F. Lind, the
chairman of the Victorian Amateur Swimming
Afwociation, moved a hearty vote of thanks to
the Lord Mayor for his practical interest in the
movement, which was carried with ucclaniation.
On the recommendation of the Loni Mayor, the
committee recorded ifn thanks to "The Age,"
"Argus" and "Herald" newspapers for the sup
port they had given, ami also their apprecia
tion of /their notion in receiving subRoriptiom.
