afternoon, when ho retired from the beadtaaater-
sbi|i of tho Central State school (No. 391). with
which he hn« been associated for upwards of
thirty years. The presentation address was

l>oy, catered tho school tho float week it was
opened in 1855, and who has been for twenty
years an assistant in the school. Tho recipient,
in reply, thanked tho pupils and assistants for
their hnndsonto present, recounted the success
ful careers of many of tlio old scholars
of the school, and remarked that ho felt
very sad to leavo tbo sccuo of his labors,
around which were ontwinod tho fondest
remembrances of his lite. During his long
term of oflico he hud mot with only ono
ingrato of a pupil among the many thousands
who had been educated at the old school. In
conclusion, he trusted thnt the present pupils
would, in after life, baas successful as those who
had attended the school in its oarlier days.
