GOLF COURSE GAINS
FOUR HOLES
SYDNEY, Saturday. — Removal
of a large sandhill from the centre
of The Lakes Golf Course has
yielded the club at least six acres
of usable land—enough for four
holes.
The hill contained 300.000 tons
of sand. It was removed In record
time by the A.W.C. for one of Its
big undertakings.
At present the course, because of
lakes and sandhills, stretches out
like a necklace to about two miles
from the clubhouse.
The club intends to use the
cleared land to make the layout
more compact. . , .
The lob will be undertaken after
the war.- Already «oW course architects,
Eric APPerly, and Arthur
East, the club s professional, have
been called to to submit schemes,
