SEVERAL FINES FOR BREACHES.
At the City Police Court, before
Mr. G. Crosby Gilmore P.M., oh 'Tues-.
day, a conviction was recorded, with
8/ costs, against Oscar' Vince," for
having failed to keep close enough to
the horse and vehicle of-which he had
charge in Bathurst street; 6n ^Jay
Sergeant Bowling ' stated ~ that the
wheel was strapped, but no other
provision had been taien for preventing
the horse from moving away.
Leonard Carlow Bennett, for having
failed to keep his horse and cart parallel
with the footpath in Argyle
street, on May 7, was fined 5/, -and
9/ costs. H. Humphrey pleaded

failed to keep to the leftiand side
of the road whilst driving a vehicle
in Campbell street on May 11. "William
John Martin was charged with
having exceeded the speed limit on
the Sandy Bay road on May 1. Sergeant
Kirkham deposed that while
with Constable Williams he saw defendant
riding a motor cycle, at
speed of 36 miles per hour, fie covered
the distance of 440 yards in 25
seconds. A fine ot £2 was Imposed,
with 9/ costs.
