t ... ' (By a Special Representative)
r Split-second organisation, goodwill,
hospitality, and a 'make yourself-at-home
feeling," were highlights of the Tallimba
Diggers 1949 Ball, which was held on Friday
night last.
It was a really bright l'niu'-l\x=req-\
tion, made much aiore pleasant
by the consideration of Presi j
dent Tom Pope, Secretary Dick
Blackstock and Social Secretary '
Bert Dalgleish, lor guests and j
particularly visitors lrtnn other J
towns.
Prom an early hour in the
evening, omnibuses, cars and
trucks arrived at Tallimba from
all parts of the district.
It was Tallimba's big
night, and there was not a
dull moment from the time
that compere Allan Foo |
called the first dance.
As the crowd increased, so
did the tempo of Johnny Long's
orchestra, which entered into
the spirit of the evening and
presented a delightful programme
of old and modern
dance numbers.
SUPPER ROOM TREAT
Ther was another treat waiting
for guests when they entered
the supper room, where
Mrs. H. Matthews (President
of the Ladies' Auxiliary) assisted
by the Secretary (Mrs. R.
Blackstock) and Auxiliary members
served a delightful meal.
Tallimba ladies have long
been noted for their catering
-> ability and there was ample
food for the big crowd.
In accordance with the time\x=req-\
honored custom the R.S.L. "Dugout,"
was placed at the disposal
of guests, where Social Secretary
Bert Dalgleish and assistants
dispensed "good clieer."
This friendly gesture never fails
to earn the appreciation of those
■who attend the annual ball.
Patron Arthur Davis and Mr.
.1. Mollison were in charge of
the ticket office, with Messrs
J. Kilmartin and T. Barry as
door sentries.
