They
were
conspicuous
on Saturday
by
their
clever scouting,
and Plunkett in particular showed
out for his high marking. He is
good kick with either foot. Fowler,
another recruit,, shows promise as a
forward. His marking Is equal to
Leogue standard, but he ls rather lax
In his kicking Greeves was not out
for a run, but will be down with the
side for Saturday's engagement.
Keppel, Leahy and Carroll showed
fine turns of speed across the centre
line. CaUaghan, a half-back from
Castlemoine, was outstanding for bis
marking and reliable work on the
defence. Coghlan Is possibly a bit
faster than In last season, and Ferguson,
who has lost considerable
weight, showed Improved pace. There
was a marked laxity In kicking among
the big men, who will require improvement
If they are to prove their
full worth In the side on Saturday.
Taking the side as a whole, they are
In fine fettle for the match with Collingwood.
